Hello everyone,
sorry to be MIA for so long from our blog!! What can I say… just life in general! New job, too much fun with my granddaughter, summertime… excuses, excuses!!
But early this morning, while it was pouring outside and I couldn’t go for a walk with Marley, I was browsing quilty blogosphere of course, with my morning coffee…and thought that this particular new book (and the fun Blog Hop that goes with it), could be interesting for you all too! IRISH CHAIN QUILTS by Melissa Corry
The subtitle is what I really, really LOVE – contemporary twists on a classic design!! And lets just say it from the start – I have no affiliations of course, I don’t even have the book YET! I just love the idea, love the quilts I saw so far and thought to share for inspiration. 🙂 I really LOVE the block that is on schedule today, by Lee from Freshly Pieced!
Anyway… If you like Blog Hops like I do, this book’s release has one and I find a lot of great inspirations on it – you can find it HERE. You will have a list of blogs and dates when to visit and yes some chances to win in there too…hey you never know! Just fun stuff!
So what are you up to these days? Lots of gardening?
In my garden this year, Clematis seems to be a “star” – huge blooms and lots of them!!
Oh but we also have FRUIT!!! The peach tree my husband planted in honor of our new granddaughter (who we all lovingly called Peaches, before she was born) now has peaches!! So exciting!!
Some new quilting and sewing?
In my sewing room…some new fabric to play with, to re-do and re-vamp some old patterns of mine… what do you think? Like?

I love that Alison Glass fabric! I am also looking for a pattern for it.
What is the fabric with the feathers? It’s really pretty.
This summer, I am making placemats for my friend Jane (using the leaf pattern from Intrepid Thread) and making quilts for our Children’s Hospital for Quilts for Kids Milwaukee (my goal is 50).
My new goal is to never have scraps to put away, so for everything I do the scraps get sewn in to something.
I’ll be in Buffalo the third week in August. I will Try to get to the Guild Meeting if I can be a Guest.

Of course you are a guest – honorary one, forever!! 🙂 Fabric with feathers is Loni Rossi, but now I can’t remember the name of the collection – will look it up when I get home and let you know! PS – hoping to do some strip-piecing with that yummy Alison Glass fabric tonight…lets see how it turns out! 🙂
Hi Marija, The “feathers” are actually leaves and the name is Fairmount Park, by Lonni Rossi for AGF. I think you got it from me but, I don’t actually recall when. Thanks for your business, though! 🙂

Saw that book a few months ago – didn’t realize that it was released yet. The patterns look wonderful Been in Denver visiting and sightseeing. SO beautiful. Maybe I’ll retire out here. Of course Jim has something to say about that. Miss you!

I am busy working on quilts for our son’s four children at home. Love the book that you featured. Our quilt show in spring is called “A Twist on Tradition”. Members challenge is to add a twist to traditional blocks. Should be lots of fun seeing what everyone comes up with.
After I am done with the children’s quilts, I will be making lots of smaller quilts! Love winter when I have an excuse to stay inside!

Love the cover of the Irish Chain book. Inspires me! Love the pihoto of your clematis. Unfortunately, mine is on life support after the harsh winter. Hmmm! Maybe a clematis appliqué wall hanging coming soon.
I am working on a train quilt for a very special boy this summer.
I am very busy working on my Simple Whatnot quilts by Kim Diehl and all the hand work from my recent classes with Sue Spargo, Helen Stubbings and Lynette Anderson. Soo much embroidery and stitcheries! Oh, and even some hexies!!
The rabbits ate all my clematis plants right down to the ground this past winter. One has come back strong, two others are just beginning to reach up their trellises. Hoping they’ll bloom this year!
I have been making covers for the backs of our counter stools. Because the metal supports have taken little chips from the granite counter when they are turned, I needed to cover them. I made quilted fabric on the longarm to use for this project. I would rather make a regular quilt, but this turned out nice.
I am teaching my ten-year-old granddaughter to sew and to cook this summer! She will be with us for four weekdays per week, so we’ll have time to do both justice. We are planning to start with making her mom some pillow covers for her living room pillows (a July birthday surprise) and to learn to make my *famous* tuna-macaroni salad. She is a lot of fun, and I anticipate that I’ll only need a short two-hour nap after she goes home each day!
I am hoping to complete a few stalled projects this summer. I just got back from Duluth MN where I attended the Minnesota Quilters show – wonderful show, lovely city. I kept my purchases to a minimum! No real mystery there, since I was flying I was limited to how much more I wanted to put into my luggage.
